Olivia Lazer: New Artist Profile

by evolveimages

Olivia Lazer was introduced to us several months ago as part our collaboration with Seattle’s The House Studios. Photographer in residence Erik Skaar recommended Olivia submit her portfolio to Evolve for consideration. We were immediately struck by her artistry and story telling implicit within every image she creates. We are delighted to now include Olivia’s work as part of our collection and asked her to provide the back story that inspires her work. Olivia provides the following:

“Attending class by day and making my way as a tattoo artist by night, when I graduated with a degree in International Relations and a double minor in Russian and Psychology in 2009 from the University of Alabama, I never could have imagined that just a few short years later I’d be pursuing a life filled with photography and illustration clear across the country in Seattle, WA.”

I was born and raised in the heart of the deep south, but after dabbling in travels abroad and extended stays in the UK, Europe, and Russia, today I call the beautiful Pacific Northwest my home. Two and a half years ago, out of the blue, my camera was gifted to me along with a newfound appreciation and passion for photography. I started off with capturing pets, landscapes, and urban artwork, but now the real excitement for me personally is found in nontraditional portraiture. I hope you enjoy my imagery or, at the very least, find something to be visually interesting!

Lovin’ these images…a strong, fresh POV. Well done. Thanks Evolve for finding and supporting new photographic artists.
